Greycliff Prairie Dog Town State Park covers 98 acres at 3,600 feet elevation on the eastern edge of Greycliff in southeast Montana's Sweet Grass County, just off Interstate 90 near the Yellowstone River.
Established in 1974, this day-use-only site protects a lively black-tailed prairie dog community in native prairie habitat, once home to Salish and Cheyenne tribes, with interpretive displays explaining their ecological role in supporting burrowing owls, black-footed ferrets, mountain plovers, and other wildlife.
Visitors enjoy close-up observation with binoculars and cameras from walk-in access (especially November to April), two picnic sites, and convenient stops for families en route between Billings and Bozeman, though feeding wildlife is prohibited and no camping or wheelchair access is available.
