Acquired by the state in 2021 from the Sisters of Charity of Our Lady of Mercy, this newest South Carolina park preserves Archaic Period history, live oak canopies, native plants, and exotic vegetation with walking trails, a gazebo, bench swing, picnic tables, and waterside paths amid woodlands and fields.
Currently in soft opening as a free day-use site open weekdays 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., it plans future event venues in the old convent, lodging, docks, and expanded recreation without camping.
