Museum
Trail End State Historic Site in Wyoming is a well-preserved historic house museum located in Sheridan and was the summer home of John B. Kendrick, a prominent cattle rancher, Wyoming governor, and U.S. senator.
Built between 1908 and 1913 in the Flemish Revival architectural style, the 13,748-square-foot mansion reflects the lifestyle of early 20th-century Wyoming elites. The mansion contains original furnishings, personal belongings, and family artifacts that offer a vivid glimpse into the social history and ranching life of that era.
After Kendrick's family ceased living there, the house was nearly demolished but was saved by the Sheridan County Historical Society and later acquired by the state. Today, it is open to the public with interpretive tours and exhibits focusing on regional history, architecture, and the changing technologies and daily life of the time. The site includes beautifully maintained grounds with panoramic views of Sheridan and the Big Goose valley.
