Park
Erving State Forest spans over 4,500 acres across Erving, Warwick, and Orange in north-central Massachusetts north of the Millers River, centered on the scenic 51-acre Laurel Lake named for its abundant mountain laurels.
Developed since the 1920s with major Civilian Conservation Corps enhancements in the 1930s—including a beach, campground, picnic areas, brick-lined shore, and trails—it offers boating, swimming, fishing, hiking on eight miles of wooded paths through oaks, maples, hemlocks, and scenic overlooks like Mount Monadnock views, plus mountain biking, horseback riding, hunting, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling.
Managed by the Department of Conservation and Recreation, this hilly preserve along the Metacomet-Monadnock Trail provides seasonal camping and a peaceful escape near Quabbin Reservoir.
