Park
Wompatuck State Park spans over 3,500 acres across Hingham, Cohasset, Norwell, and Scituate in Massachusetts, offering forests, streams, ponds, and a reservoir on former Native American and WWII naval ammunition depot land.
Managed by the Department of Conservation and Recreation, it provides more than 250 campsites, 12 miles of paved bike paths, 40 miles of wooded trails for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, and cross-country skiing, plus fishing and non-motorized boating on the Aaron River Reservoir.
Named for Chief Josiah Wompatuck who deeded the area in 1665, it features Mt. Blue Spring for free drinking water, rocky outcrops, abundant wildlife, and seasonal hunting, drawing about 100,000 visitors yearly for its diverse outdoor escapes.
