Park
Manuel F. Correllus State Forest is a roughly 5,100–5,300‑acre state forest in the center of Martha’s Vineyard, mostly in the towns of Edgartown and West Tisbury, managed by the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation.
Originally established in 1908 as the Heath Hen Reserve to protect the now‑extinct heath hen, it now protects a rare pine‑barrens and scrub‑oak woodland habitat that supports several state‑ and federally listed species, and is the focus of a major ecosystem‑restoration project.
The forest offers about 14 miles of mostly flat trails and paved bike paths circling much of the interior, along with sand pathways, small ponds, and pitch‑pine woods, providing space for hiking, biking, horseback riding, hunting during legal seasons, and wildlife viewing on the island.
