Park
Mount Greylock State Reservation is a 12,000‑ plus‑acre public park on and around Mount Greylock, the highest point in Massachusetts at about 3,490 feet, located in the northwestern Berkshires near Lanesborough, Adams, and Williamstown.
Established in 1898 as Massachusetts’ first public land for forest preservation, it offers a mix of high‑elevation woods, sub‑alpine stands, and extensive trails for hiking, mountain biking, backcountry skiing, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling, including an 11.5‑mile section of the Appalachian Trail.
The summit can be reached by a seasonal automobile road and features the 93‑foot Veterans War Memorial Tower, Bascom Lodge, and panoramic views that on clear days can stretch up to around 90 miles, while the reservation also supports primitive camping, wildlife habitat, and interpretive opportunities within a rugged, scenic mountain setting.
