Park
Natural Bridge State Park is a small Massachusetts state park in North Adams, in the far northwest of the state, centered on a dramatic 60‑foot‑deep gorge cut by Hudson Brook through white marble bedrock.
The park’s main feature is the only natural white marble arch in North America, a 550‑million‑year‑old rock formation shaped by glacial meltwater over roughly 13,000 years, which now spans the rushing stream at the bottom of the gorge.
Visitors walk along cliffside paths to view the arch, an old marble quarry, and a man‑made white marble dam, enjoying short woodland trails, picnic spots, and interpretive talks that explain both the geology and the area’s history as a 19th‑ to mid‑20th‑century quarry and later a roadside attraction before becoming a state park in 1985.
