Park
Sandisfield State Forest is a roughly 4,000‑acre northern hardwood forest in the town of Sandisfield, in the southern Berkshires of western Massachusetts, managed by the state’s Department of Conservation and Recreation.
The forest’s focal point is York Lake, a 35‑acre man‑made lake created by the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1935, which offers a sandy swimming beach, fishing, and non‑motorized boating along with a boat ramp and picnic areas. Visitors can hike or cross‑country ski on trails such as the 2.2‑mile York Lake Loop, fish in York Lake and nearby West and Abby ponds, and enjoy seasonal hunting, all within a quiet, wooded setting that is also known to host occasional black bears.
